It´s the underlying situation to the other main three inside the sequence of hidden meanings. Inside of it, it contains itself and that´s why there´s a kind of infinite self-generation. However, it also contains a non-visible or hidden facet: The Receptive that makes present o turns to evident when changes start. This facet that is not evident indicates opposite´s interdependence, a lay expressed as movement, not necessarily as a visible phenomenon.
Thus it´s deduced they´re two principles structuring the universe and apprehendable when we observe changes. In this way, The Creative does not defer from The Receptive (Kun ~ 2): they´re the same as present forces in things and beings design.
The spatial quality of yin energy, flexible, permeable and soft, is introduced in the roots of the situation, or as an external factor that doesn´t belong to it or with both characteristics, that is, from inside and outside. This way it emerge other three situations mentioned in The Book of Changes (I Ching), all of them containing a common basis: The Creative.
A way to broaden each hexagram interpretation appears when we observe its continuity in those other situations containing it as an invisible factor, underlying to them and conditioning from the inside. When we get any of hexagram 28, 43 or 44 in a reading we´ll have to think of Ch´ien as that invisible factor:
The continuity line between The Excess (Ta Kuo, 28), The Overflow (Kuai, 43) and The Coupling (44) is The Creative. It´s just about applying practically and concretely Ch´ien logic to understand it in a reading. And one way to do so is observing when it appears as a hidden situation, conditioning others.
