Chia Jen (37): The Family (6~10~47~58)

hexagrama 37 I Ching
Chia Jen (37) ~ The Family
When Wei Chi (64 – Before Consummation) was mentioned, it was said that Chia Jen is formed by a structure that is a reaction to disorder. This last hexagram, The Family, contains within a potential disorganization that is counteracted by ascribing well-defined roles to the composing elements. This was, it appears as a well-organized whole with a functionality: agglutinating forces with the aim to reach some particular goal.

The situation belongs to an energy´s reductive cycle. This means that ruling order tends to end and we should consider this time won´t last long. We´ll have to bear in mind which were the causes for agglutinate, why forces are joined,  maybe to face something, maybe to avoid some other thing …Chia Jen objective …

As we´ve seen throughout this series of articles referred to hidden meanings in each hexagram, The Family conditions other possible situations in a reading and it´s possible to punctuate some keywords to understand its specific impress in each one of them:

hexagrama 6 I Ching
Sung (6) ~ The Conflict

Structure. Current problems have their roots in the ruling order in things. Assigned roles, places to occupy, executed functions are all characteristics that turn to be the source for open conflict, and in that given order it will be necessary to find resolving manners. Cards are spread and it´s not possible to avoid the way they´ve been spread: now it´s time to play with the rules set before, without refusing them, accepting energy´s communication and circulation channels. If some kind of authority character had been chosen to judge, it has to be respected in what says and orders.

hexagrama 10 I Ching
(10) ~ The Mien

Playing the role. Circumstances lead to be in a highlighted position inside a clan or a group we are part of. It´s about assuming some kind of leadership, firmly and standing out among the others. Chia Jen functionality moves a little bit away from the need to sustain certain order in a potential disorder: a specific situation had emerged and is requiring new goals for The Family to be set, not so focused on setting customs and traditions as before but in its entrance into the external world. The movement seems an entity taking autonomous form, with a greater independence in comparison to the initial conditions that allowed its appearance.

hexagrama 47 I Ching
K´ un (47) ~ The Confining

Without resources. Chia Jen might be a temporary situation. Organizing forces to shape a clan or an ordered group is an activity that is not convenient to develop for a long time because it seems it can´t avoid problems to emerge. Ideas and actions are inefficient to manoeuver with elements in the situation, and causes are diverse: caducous solutions, an inadequate approach on the subject …Clan´s characteristics don´t seem to work to get thins done but it´s not possible to do much more about it. In this situation, decay can be accentuated and it only remains to watch how water is lost through a slit …

hexagrama 58 I Ching
Sui (58) ~ The Serenity
Satisfaction. This situation turns to be the most stable for The Family structure. Standing out external actions are not required, no conflicts to judge and we don´t attend to the clan´s emotional decay. Joy, satisfaction, pleasure and calm are the ruling conditions when Tui is got in a reading: we count on a foreseeable inner order, in which elements are satisfied and happy each of them with the position they occupy. Tradition and customs are adequated for the present time, and in this situation we find ourselves at the farthest point in relation to the initial disorder or the source from which the clan appeared. This clan is like a masterpiece counteracting a disorganization threat.

We find Chia Jen as conditioning in four situations punctuated in the I Ching: Sung (6 – The Conflict), (10 – The Mien), K´un (47 – The Confining) y Tui (58, The Serenity). Its influence from within is diverse: against disorder, it may bring order, or give action patterns, or reveal itself as inadequated for present times, or give the exact necessary order to keep spiritual happiness. As seen, it´s fundamental to bear in mind that behind all these variants for influence at the same time we´ll always find Wei Chi (64) chaos.
