What is the I Ching?
Translated as The Book of Changes, it consists of images arising from concepts or metaphors common to natural rhythms. It allows knowing the own position and thus be able to make decisions in all situations with a correct basis for action.
How are natural rhythms?
They are cyclical, repeat in a sequence (like spring, summer, fall, winter). Non-resistance to change is the conformity of personal conduct with nature laws.
Why is the I Ching special?
Because it highlights the permanent possibilities of change in the empty. The interpretation considers the forces interplay that tend towards order and chaos to characterize situations, investigate and plan concrete actions.
What is yin-yang?
It´s a cosmic rule that shows that every situation becomes and contains its opposite. They´re two structuring principles that rule, at times, the changes. Yang is initiating, luminous, active, strong energy, a movement that creates form and leads it from the inside out. Yin is receptive energy that takes the form and unfolds it, it´s the Earth movement, spatial, that is carried away by other stronger ones. When yang moves, yin opens and conceives all beings. When yang stops, yin closes encompassing all things.
What is an hexagram?
There´re six lines to which a Chinese ideogram is assigned, together. Lines are read in their internal relationships and also what is known as the microcosmic sequence of natural phenomena (sequence 1-64) and the macrocosmic sequence of hidden meanings (originated in hexagrams 1, 2, 63 and 64).
How to ask?
Bearing in mind the intention of our question, its purpose, the interest that drives our motivation. By defining a question this way, the oracle opens up to unthinkable or even imagined answers. The more relevant, the more assertive. A more specific and goal-focused variant for asking can be found in Projecting changes with the I Ching.
